Review of Fritomania

Fritomania is a chip stand in Orleans, in the East end of Ottawa. This chip stand is open for 10 months of the year closing only between December 20th and February 20th. It is a quaint orange shack that is located in a parking lot at 2442 St Joseph Boulevard.

Poutine.

Poutine is my weakness. I require accessible and authentic poutine at least 10 times per year. Fritomania meets my criteria and then some. This chip stand is fully owned and operated by a very kind Vietnamese family. That’s right, Vietnamese people know how to make fantastic Québec poutine. These people are super nice, and always polite with friendly smiles. I love giving them my business, and I don’t get poutine anywhere else.

I don’t know how they learned, or where they get their potatoes, but that poutine is so damn good!
They give you huge portions, with the perfect ratio of cheese to gravy to fries. I’ve often found that I’ve had to ask for either additional cheese curds, or additional gravy at most places, but at Fritomania; they do it perfectly with a layer of cheese curds in the middle, AND on the top of the poutine, with tons of gravy.

I can never finish a medium, so I often just have a $4.00 small poutine. When I’m really greedy I go for the $5.00 medium, as I did today at lunch, and try my hardest to finish it. Once I get full, I proceed to eat only the remaining cheese, or fries that are touching cheese.

Fritomania also sells hot dogs, hamburgers, pogos, fries, and your other typical chip stand items in addition to a wide range of pop selections. They have very fast service, but you can even call ahead of time to place your order. (613) 830-4015.
