Review of Alice in Wonderland, 3D
Why. Why did they have to ruin a masterpiece? I love, love LOVE the story of Alice in Wonderland. This? This was not Alice in Wonderland.
I understand that it was Alice going back to Wonderland as an 18-year old, but, they brought up the past in such a way as though it was dismissive. I thought it was dumb that they kept pondering whether she was Alice or not.
I felt like they raced through all the cool parts from her childhood. She went through the same areas, but there was nothing cool, interesting, or inspiring about any of it! I felt gypped. There was zero music! Where were the singing judgemental flowers? The caterpillar’s smoke sucked balls.

Tweetle Dee and Tweetle Dumb didn’t rhyme or confuse us. They were just highly dumb and sort of sad.
Since when is the Mad Hatter an important character? OH, since Johnny Depp took the part…Right. I understand that this isn’t the same Alice in Wonderland story, but they made a point of bringing up the past all the time, so the Mad Hatter should not have been as integral. That damn mouse was so hateful.
The Queen of hearts. It was interesting how they played out her self-consciousness due to her head’s size. Her ego was basically a reflection of her head, or vice versa. I thought it was decent that the people in the castle wore masks etc, but, it was just too different, while trying to be the same.
The White queen. I’d never heard about there being a white queen before, but I’ve never actually read the Alice in Wonderland tales, so maybe. Why was she so odd? I thought she was faking it, but then remained odd the entire time. Dumb.
The actress that played Alice was fine and all, but, there was no attachment to her at all. When they showed a flashback of a young Alice, I thought she was so adorable. They should have just remade the old Alice(the Disney cartoon one), but re-made it with the technology they used. It was all very cool, but not cool enough. They ruined Alice in Wonderland.
I liked the Cheshire cat. That was about it.
Don’t waste your time.

I haven’t seen the movie, but I tend to agree that most re-makes aren’t up to the same storytelling as the originals. I can’t even watch the re-make of Willy Wonka without feeling deep sadness.

I totally agree. I thought they should have just done “Alice Through the Looking Glass.” No one ever does it and it’s such a cool story!
Fun blog!
