Review of Amazin’ Raisin
Amazin’ Raisin is a brand of raisins that mimics other fruit flavours. I saw them at Walmart, and they sold for only $2.00, so we decided to try them. They come in strawberry, orange, peach, and lemon flavours.
The package I bought was the peach flavoured one. The box indicates that these are fat free, trans fat free, gluten free, nut free, cholesterol free, with no added salt, no sweeteners and no preservatives.
My very first impression was that they do taste like peach. Not a real peach, but the peachy taste given to candies. These raisins are WAY too sugary. I could only eat two little raisins before I could feel the sugar digging into my teeth. I thought maybe it was just me, but my husband felt the very same way.
In fact, these raisins have since become the ‘let’s test it on our next guest’ to see if anyone actually likes them. My brother, who’s obsessed with candy, could not even get through a full package. Not one person that tried them enjoyed them.
Each little package offers 2g of fibre, but has 20g of sugar. Raisins on their own are fairly sugary, let alone ones that are “naturally” flavoured to mimic other fruit. I have no clue how this flavouring process works, or how it can be deemed natural, but these peach flavoured raisins are not good.
I would not serve them to children, because I think they might cause cavities. These are cheap snacks, but you get what you pay for. Zero quality. I won’t be buying them again, and don’t suggest you try them.
