Review of Pixel Junk’s Monsters

Posted by Darleya

Pixel Junk is a series of downloadable games developed by Q-Games for the Playstations 3 that you can download at minimal costs. These games are comparable to Xbox Live’s mini games.

Monsters by Pixel Junk is a single player or two-player co-op tower defense game. You know how I love my tower defense games! Your basic objective is to build towers of various types along a pathway to your home base, so that enemies can’t make it all the way to your home.

What makes Monsters different from other tower defense games, is that you are a little bug, your character looks like some sort of a beetle, it’s really cute. To upgrade your towers, you have to dance around them for a while, or pay, but while you’re out of cash you remain useful as you stand around various towers to increase their power. What’s great is that when you’re dancing around your tower you’ll see the radius at which it reaches targets. This radius will increase as you level up the various towers.

The game has many levels and we still haven’t beaten the game which is good. I love when games last a very long time, especially tower defense games.

The game is by no definition easy, it is challenging. We still have yet to unlock many of the higher powered towers, because as soon as we collect a lot of blue eggs (which enable you to obtain new towers, OR upgrade your current ones without having to dance), we tend to spend them on tower upgrades because we’ll get stressed out in battle.

My husband and I play this game for hours, it’s a lot of fun. Pixel Junk also makes some other very original games for your Playstation 3, so I will be reviewing some of those in the next little while.

Get your nerd on and play some video games! Right now is the perfect time during this in between weather.

One more thing, this game can also be played on a Playstation Portable device, such as the PSP.
